Who is behind the "aiutare i bambini" Foundation?
The choice of Chicco to link into the "aiutare i bambini" Foundation came about from the common Italian origins of the two founders, the Cavaliere del Lavoro Pietro Catelli and Mr. Goffredo Modena, and of the two entities that found in solidarity a territory of sharing and fruitful collaboration.
The Foundation is an independent and secular not-for-profit organisation that operates throughout the world so that:
• children who are poor and hungry receive the basics for survival and those who are ill receive adequate medical care;
• children with no education have the opportunity to go to school;
• children who have suffered violence are helped to overcome the harm that was done to them;
• children who have no family can be received into a new family or into a community-family.
The Foundation operates in compliance with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, in line with the Millennium Development Goals defined by the United Nations and signed by all Member States of the UN. In its thirteen years of activity, it has supported more than 1 million children, funding over 1,000 aid projects in 72 countries.
Among the issues on which the Foundation concentrates, Chicco has decided to support the program “Cuore di bimbi” (Heart of babies) for the treatment of childhood heart disorders. From September 2005 to the end of 2012, 737 children have been saved thanks to “aiutare i bambini” through the provision of paediatric cardiac surgery.
